Burn depth assessment by a cell-phone

Abstract

We develop and test a novel cell-phone-based laser speckle analyzer for assessing burn depth in vivo. The results show a potential for monitoring burn recovery and that superficial-dermal and deep-dermal burns are distinguishable 32-hours-post-injury.
