Characterization of Plasmon Coupling Between Gold Nanospheres Using Polarization Control

Abstract

Single gold nanospheres sense local dielectric environment but are influenced by plasmonic coupling of proximal pairs. Polarization control can separate these two plasmonic effects, allowing both refractive index sensing and measurement of interparticle distance, with potential biological applications.
