Diffuse Optical Detection of Cerebral Ischemia During Carotid Endarterectomy

Abstract

Cerebral blood flow and oxygenation were monitored by diffuse optical spectroscopes during carotid endarterectomy (CEA). The results demonstrate high sensitivity of diffuse optical spectroscopes in detecting cerebral ischemia due to arterial clamping during CEA.
