Abstract
Further contrast mechanisms of ophthalmic optical coherence tomography (OCT) are summarized. The first candidate of the new contrast of OCT is scattering optical coherence angiography (S-OCA) which uses a software based segmentation algorithm to discriminate the choroidal vessels form a three-dimensional retinal OCT volume. The second candidate is Doppler optical coherence angiography (D-OCA) which contrasts the flow of the retinal vessels. The third candidate of the further contrast mechanism is polarization sensitive OCT (PS-OCT). Because collagen has strong birefringence PS-OCT enables to discriminate collagenous structures in vivo.
