Second Harmonic Diagnostics for Laser Welding and Ablation of Skin

Abstract

Optical second harmonic generation is used to monitor photothermal denaturation of collagen taking place in skin tissue during photoheating by CW Nd:YAG laser. The change in altitude of a second harmonic response from welded and ablated area of the samples has been determined.
