Abstract

A segmentation algorithm specially designed for three-dimensional optical coherence tomography (OCT) of human skin is presented. A-scan oriented algorithm determines the thickness distribution and the mean thickness of epidermis. The algorithm also determines the surface of the OCT volume, and en face OCT slices at constant depths from the surface are extracted from the OCT volume. A histogram-based levelset segmentation method is applied for the slices to segment out infundibulums. This algorithm also provides the density and the population of the infundibulums.
