Abstract

We report on the influence of different light propagation models on tomographic reconstructions of small tissue volumes, such as human finger joints or rodents. Using recently developed frequency-domain transport- and diffusion-based codes we show that image reconstructions with the transport equation as the forward model are in general of superior quality.
