Abstract

The practical approach to analyse the light propagation in the adult head model with the low-scattering CSF layer by the FEM is investigated. The percent error in the partial optical path length in the grey matter for the head model with 2-mm-thick CSF layer calculated by the FEM is less than 8 % when the transport scattering coefficient of the CSF layer is greater than 0.2 mm-1.
