Abstract
We present an algorithm that provides frequency-domain solution of the equation of radiative transfer (ERT) for heterogeneous media of arbitrary shape. While in general the ERT is more accurate than the diffusion equation, no ERT code for photon density waves has been developed to date. In this work we present a formulation of the ERT in the frequency domain and discretize the equation by a discrete ordinate methods in combination with a finite-volume approach. Two numerical simulations are presented.
