Abstract
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common dementing disorder. Its neuropathological hallmarks are senile plaques and various forms of neurofibrillary pathology. We are developing a light scattering spectroscopy optical technique, which will identify differences in the absorption and light scattering properties of brain tissue due to the presence of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles and detect both chemical and morphological changes in Alzheimer’s brain at the earliest possible stages.
