Formation of a Narrow Nonlinear Layer in Thermally Poled Optical Fibers

Abstract

A mechanism is proposed for the formation of a narrow nonlinear layer deep under the anode in thermally poled fibers, based on a two-rate H+ migration mechanism. Simulations agree second harmonic microscopy measurements.
