Impact of H2 loading on the refractive index change in waveguides written by femtosecond laser pulses in pure silica glasses

Abstract

We investigate the influence of H2 loading on the fs-laser induced refractive index change (Δn) in pure fused silica. Δn obtained with the far-field characterization of inscribed waveguides shows that it can be increased with H2 loading.
