Simplified Numerical Simulation of Bursty Packet Traffic Amplification by Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier

Abstract

We propose a simplified numerical model to study burst induced signal distortion in EDFAs. The obtained experimental and simulated results for the signal amplitude decay rate are comparable, with a simulation time of 4.7 µs/bit.
