System Applications of Advanced Fiber Gratings

Abstract

Fiber gratings have been successfully incorporated into telecommunication systems. This paper reviews practical applications of fiber gratings in telecom networks with an emphasis on fiber grating requirements for such applications. These include PMD, PDL, dispersion, short wavelength losses, as well as other grating and fiber parameters, which are required for practical optical networks.
