Characterization of a long-period grating (LPG) bend sensor in a core concentricity error fiber

Abstract

The wavelength splitting for a LPG in a fiber with core concentricity error (CCE) is insensitive to temperature and writing direction allowing simple, robust bending measurements. Perpendicular light diffraction facilitates determination of the CCE direction.
