Abstract

A method for characterization of fiber Bragg gratings is described. The group delay and the reflectivity of the grating are obtained from measurement of the spectral reflectivity response of a Fabry-Perot structure consisting of the grating and a reference reflector. The method has been tested numerically, showing good robustness against noise. It has also been tried out experimentally, showing reproducible and promising results.
