Abstract
We present an efficient method for the design of practical fibre Bragg gratings filters based on the synthesis of the grating impulse response. The main advantages of the method are its low algorithmic complexity and its flexibility to tailor arbitrary spectral responses. The method will be illustrated with the design of square dispersionless filters and dispersion compensators.
