Bend-effects on Brillouin gain in large mode area fiber amplifiers with acoustic antiguide

Abstract

Model calculations show that a bend radius of 10 cm degrades the Brillouin threshold by 8 dB for a large mode area fiber with an antiguiding acoustic waveguide designed to minimize the straight-fiber Brillouin gain.
