Abstract

We report an efficient 488 nm laser for biotechnology applications. The multi-longitudinal-mode external cavity semiconductor laser radiation is frequency converted in a MgO:PPLiNbO3 waveguide. The laser provides excellent beam quality, variable output power, and the capability of direct modulation.
