Abstract
We report our works on fiber Raman amplifiers with linewidth of ~10MHz. Up to 1 W, < 12.5 MHz 1178 nm laser is obtained by Raman amplification of a distributed feedback diode laser seed in standard fibers, limited by stimulated Brillouin scattering. By introducing temperature non-uniformity along fiber, we are able to push back the threshold of stimulated Brillouin scattering and increase the output to 1.5 W.
