Robust Fundamental Mode Operation in an Ytterbium-doped Leakage Channel Fiber with an Effective Area of ~3000µm2

Abstract

We report the fundamental mode operation in an ytterbium-doped fiber with effective areas of ~3000µm2, which can be coiled down to 15cm radius. Lasers with slope efficiency ~60% and M2 ~1.3 have been demonstrated.
