Abstract

The 2005 OSA Topical Meeting on Advanced Solid-State Photonics (ASSP) is the world’s premier forum for presentation of recent advances involving solid-state lasers, fiber lasers, and nonlinear optical materials, parametric and Raman devices and novel applications enabled by these sources. The 2005 ASSP conference convened in Vienna, Austria, on February 6-9, 2005 where its 373 attendees representing 31 countries were treated to a spectacular venue; Vienna was the meeting’s second location to be held outside of North America (Davos, Switzerland was its first in 2000). This Trends in Optics and Photonics (TOPS) volume contains papers based on the oral and poster presentations at that meeting.
