Single-mode Yb-doped fiber laser at 980 nm for efficient frequency-doubling

Abstract

A single-mode Yb-doped fiber laser producing 2 W at 980 nm is demonstrated with a high conversion efficiency of 72 % with respect to the incident power at 914 nm. This laser has a bandwidth lower than 0.02 nm and a tunability of 6 nm. A power of 78 mW at 489 nm is reported by frequency-doubling in a ppLN waveguide.
