Suppression of Q-switching in a passively mode-locked laser by nonlinear absorption in an Indium Phosphide plate

Abstract

Nonlinear absorption in Indium Phosphide was exploited to stabilise a passively mode-locked laser to extend the parameter range of continuous-wave mode-locking. The pump threshold for stable continuous wave mode locking was reduced by 50 %.
