Abstract

We investigated the nonlinear absorption properties of As2Te3 with the Z-scan technique. Its nonlinear-absorption coefficient was measured at -3.7 × 104 cm/GW. Using an As2Te3-based saturable absorber, mode-locked pulses were obtained at 1911.4 nm.
