Mitigation Strategies for Optical Nonlinearities in Kilowatt-class Narrow-linewidth Fiber Amplifiers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We discuss mitigation strategies for optical nonlinearities in high-power fiber amplifiers suitable for coherent or spectral beam combining. The optical nonlinearities include SBS, SRS, XPM and modal instability. Both conventional and microstructured amplifiers are considered.
