Abstract

The oxide garnet {Tb3}[Sc2-xLux](Al3)O12 (TSLAG) is developed as alternative to Tb3Ga5O12 (TGG). TSLAG exhibits better transmittance, Verdet constant, and radiation resistance. Further, PrF3 and CeF3 fluoride crystals are investigated as unique Faraday rotators for the UV-visible region.
