Abstract

The classic, simple and inexpensive Nd:YAG-rod laser design is presented as a laser with enhanced efficiency and brightness due to compensation of thermally induced birefringence in a diode pumped single and double rod set up and optional beam shaping by a non-spherical refractive optic.
