Cr4+:LiGaSiO4 crystal - new promising active medium for tunable solid-state lasers

Abstract

New crystal Cr4+:LiGaSiO4 had been grown from melt for the first time. The preliminary investigation of its spectroscopic properties, in particular, fluorescence lifetime, equal to 15 μsec, shows the prospects of this crystal as new active laser medium.
