Abstract

Highly neodymium-doped GdVO4 crystals were successfully grown by the floating zone (FZ) method. Nd-doped crystals with a Nd concentration as high as 10 at.% showed favorable optical properties and laser performance. We demonstrated 879 nm pumping for lasing at 1063 nm due to strong absorption with highly Nd-doped crystals.
