Abstract

Type-I noncritically phase-matched second harmonic generation was studied in Gd1−xYxCOB. The highest frequency doubling efficient composition at 946 nm (with x =0.13) has been found to date for type-I non-critical phase matching along Z. The Czochralski pulling method gives a good optical crystal. The very first intracavity frequency doubling experiment with Gd0.87Y0.13COB produced 31 μW of blue light by of Nd: YAG emitting at 946 nm 29% and 16% more efficient than GdCOB and YCOB, The angular acceptances have been measured and give 9.3, 1.9 and 1.0 mrad.cm for Gd0.87Y0.87COB, GdCOB and YCOB respectively.
