Novel Mode Control Technique for High Power TEM00 Lasers

Abstract

The mode of high-power end-pumped lasers is controlled using a top-hat intensity pump profile, which induces a soft aperture via an abrupt thermal lens change. This allows power scaling with improved beam quality and increased intra-cavity doubling efficiencies.
