Abstract

A high energy, diode pumped Cr:LiSAF oscillator based on a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) cavity design has demonstrated good extraction efficiency and beam quality. The oscillator generated a maximum Q-switched output energy of 23 mJ with optical-to-optical efficiency of 11.2% at 838 nm. Long-pulse energy of 33 mJ has been achieved with M2 = 1.2, and up to 47 mJ of multi-mode output has been produced.
