Laser Diode-Pumped High Repetition Rate, High Energy Nd:YAG Laser

Abstract

Laser diode pumped all solid state, high pulse repetition rate (PRR) and high energy Nd:YAG laser using zigzag slab crystals has been developed forthe pumping source of Ti:sapphire CPA system. The pumping laser installs two main amplifiers which compose ring type amplifier configuration. The maximum amplification gain of the amplifier system is 140 and the saturated amplification is achieved with this high gain. The average power of fundamental laser radiation is 250 W at the PRR of 200 Hz and the pulse duration around 20 ns. The average power of second harmonic is 105 W at the PRR of 170 Hz and the pulse duration about 16 ns. The beam profile of the second harmonic is near top hat and is suitable forthe pumping of Tirsapphire laser crystal. The wall plug efficiencyof the laser is 2.0%.
