Abstract

Nd3+ doped Sr5(PO4)3F, or Nd:SFAP, has been demonstrated1-3 to be an efficient, low threshold material for 945 nm, 1.059 µm and 1.328 µm laser operation originating from the three transitions between 4F3/2 and 4I9/2, 4I11/2, 4I13/2 manifolds, respectively. Nonlinear frequency conversion techniques have been applied to generate blue2, green4, orange (589 nm)3, and red lasers based on these transitions.
