Abstract

Absorption and fluorescence spectra of neodymium-doped calcium tungstate and strontium tungstate are presented. A Ti:sapphire-pumped Nd3+(2%): CaWO4 laser at 1058 nm has been demonstrated. Intracavity frequency doubling of the fundamental wavelength generated more than 100 mW of green radiation at 529 nm. A maximum infrared output power at 1058 nm of up to 810 mW was achieved using a laser diode as pump source. Intracavity second harmonic generation was also obtained under laser diode pumping the 1058 nm transition in Nd3+: CaWO4.
