Diode Pumped, Q-Switched Erbium Lasers with Short Pulse Duration

Abstract

We report laser performance of Er: YLF and Er:YSGG in a diode-side-pumped geometry in the 3μm-band. Analysis of intra cavitylosses and gain was performed by measurement of the spiking turn-on time delay. We have been able to achieve - to our knowledge - the first Q-switched laser operation of a diode-pumped Er3+-laser on this transition.
