Abstract

We report a high-power, high repetition rate, pulsed optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on the nonlinear optical material periodically-poled lithium niobate (PPLN). The OPO had maximum outputs of 2 W and 0.6 W at signal (1.54 μm) and idler (3.45 μm) wavelengths, respectively. The pulse repetition rate was varied over 5-32 kHz, and the device was tuned over 2.8 - 4.8 μm (idler) and 1.72-1.37 μm (signal).
