Abstract
Efficient room-temperature operation of diode-pumped Nd:YAG lasers is demonstrated for the quasi-three-leve1 transition at 946nm. Single-frequency output powers of more than 8OOmW cw are generated by application of a composite-cavity non-planar ring design. High intensity and frequency stability of the emitted radiation is observed. Preliminary results on second harmonic generation in KNbO3, are presented.
