Abstract
The Beamlet laser is a large aperture, flashlamp-pumped Nd-glass laser that is a scientific prototype of the proposed National Ignition Facility [1]. We have achieved output energies in excess of 6 kJ at the third harmonic (351 nm) in a 3 ns square pulse from a nominal 30×30 cm2 square aperture.
