Method for Measuring Real-Time, Thermally-Induced Optical Path Changes in Transparent Media

Abstract

An interferometric based diagnostic for experimentally determining the real-time, thermally-induced optical path changes in optically pumped media is presented. A two-dimensional model is used to describe the fringe pattern evolution during this process. Excellent agreement between model and experiment is observed.
