Abstract

An upconversion laser pumped at 797 nm produces up to 1.1 watts at 551 nm. A rate equation analysis for the state populations and a Gaussian mode description for the laser and the pump beams accurately predicts threshold and slope efficiency for the device with one free parameter that describes the overall quantum efficiency of the upconversion processes.
