Injection-Seeded, Narrow-Band, Flashlamp-Pumped Ti:Al2O3 Oscillator

Abstract

We report on a flashlamp-pumped Ti:Al2O3 laser designed to operate at the 5-10 J level when excited by short-current-pulse (2-μs FWHM) flashlamps. Stored energies approaching 9 J have been achieved in a 17-cm long by 2-cm diameter rod, using a non-optimized system. Narrow-band (<0.5 nm) laser output has been demonstrated using cw injection-seeding with a 60-mW ring dye laser operating at 810 nm.
