Diffraction-Limited Solid State Lasers with Supergaussian Mirrors

Abstract

Unstable resonators using mirrors of superGaussian reflectivity profile are proposed and their advantages are discussed. For the case of a flashlamp pumped Nd:YAG laser, diffraction limited output beams with energy up to 400 mJ have, in this way, been obtained.
