Abstract

We have experimentally measured the stored energy and the heat generated in diode-pumped Nd:YAG. The heat parameter x, defined as the heat deposited per unit of stored energy, is found to be 1.1, in a 200μs pump pulse, about one-third of the value in flashlamp-pumped Nd:YAG. Without fluorescence decay, the x is 0.7
