Abstract

It is well-known that holmium ions are capable of producing stimulated emission at several wavelengths, ranging from the visible to the infrared. Lasing action at 0.55 µm, 2.0 µm, and recently at 2.9 µm has been reported in BaYb2F8:Ho3+.1,2 We report here the results of an extensive study of the spectral dynamics in this material as they relate to the multiple lasing channels.
