Abstract

Work at RSRE covers several aspects of research into solid-state tunable lasers. Investigations currently in progress Includes crystal growth, the spectroscopic assessment of crystals and glasses from a variety of sources, laser testing of chromium-doped gadolinium scandium gallium garnet and two distinct theoretical studies of vibronic materials, aimed at easing the problems of materials selection. This paper concentrates on two of these topics, namely RSRE's work on flashlamp-pumped Cr: GSGG and one of the theoretical aspects.
