Abstract
Ti:Al2O3 has been characterized as a line-narrowed oscillator and as an amplifier so that this material may be applied to laser systems. Ti:Al2O3, with its wide tuning range, has been considered for several laser systems such as laser communications and atmospheric probes. Often these requirements require narrow line operation or operation at higher energy outputs than currently available with laser-pumped Ti:Al2O3. To address the applicability of Ti:Al2O3 to these situations, this material was operated both as a line-narrowed oscillator and an amplifier.
