Abstract

We present a novel approach to differential photometry in high-contrast observations of faint companions to stars. Our reference-less algorithm exploits the difference in statistics between the on-axis and off-axis intensity in adaptive-optics images. We test the accuracy of the method on data from the Lick Observatory’s 3m telescope.
