Tomography in Adaptive Optics: Ideas, System Development, and Flourishing

Abstract

Tomographic wavefront correction has become a critical component of many astronomical AO systems today. We overview the successful inclusion of tomography in astronomical AO systems, with an eye towards future systems and concepts on ELTs.
